Addie Garrison Briggs grew up on a farm four miles south of Milan, Georgia, in the midst of the south Georgia wiregrass territory. She first attended Progress School near Midway Church and later graduated from Milan High School. She graduated from Asbury College in Wilmore, Kentucky with majors in History and Elementary Education. In 1969 she moved with her young family back to the country outside Milan.
She and her husband live on the original site of Camp Six of the Dodge Lumber Company, which was a thriving workplace during the time that the virgin timber was being harvested in the late nineteenth century.
Addie Garrision Briggs first published They Don’t Make People Like They Used To in 1985. It has been revised and updated for its 2012 publication. Released in both ebook and hardcover formats, Ms. Briggs’ work stands up as a document re-creating lost, exciting, challenging and golden times in Telfair County, Georgia.
